3 Healthy Snacks To Ease Your Sweeth Tooth

Snacking doesn't have to be unhealthy.

But it is for most people.

Think about it - most of the foods you snack on are bad for you.

They're (heavily) processed and contain many unnatural sugars & ingredients.

They're the ones you often crave:

  • The Christmas mince pie

  • The celebration sweets

  • The chocolate bar

They damage your health but you crave them so much.

These 3 food items can stop you from snacking so unhealthily:

  • Raw Honey

  • Medjool Dates

  • Dark Chocolate

Let’s explain each one!

1) Raw Honey

Cold-pressed, unrefined, unfiltered, raw honey.

That’s what you want (ideally).

Most honey you'll find in the supermarket is heavily processed. It's undergone pasteurization. This involves heating the honey to slow down the crystallization.

(Crystallization is where the honey turns stiff & solid)

What's the problem with pasteurization?

Raw honey has over 200 nutrients & enzymes that help your health.

Heating honey removes many of those nutrients.

Plus most supermarket honey has added sweeteners & refined sugars which are bad for you. The sugar in raw honey is different from refined sugars (which modern-day sweets are packed with).

Some argue that supermarket honey isn’t even real honey.

And the sugar in raw honey is natural & healthy. In moderation - it can help to keep you energized.

Limit yourself to no more than 1 tablespoon per day & you'll be golden.

You can add raw honey:

  • To oats

  • To fruit

  • To a protein shake

  • To dark chocolate ;)

And whatever else you feel like adding it to!

You can order raw & unfiltered honey online. It has a beautiful taste & will soothe your sweet tooth!

2) Medjool Dates

This nutritious (calorie-dense snack) eases your sweet tooth immediately.

Sugars found in dates are natural.

Dates are packed with sucrose & glucose (natural sugars). These can help boost up your energy.

Other health benefits of Medjool dates:

  • High in disease-fighting compounds (antioxidants)

  • Promotes better brain function

  • Supports gut health

[Our gut health (strongly) affects how we feel]

Again, don't oversnack on these.

Limit yourself to 2-4 dates per day

Enjoy your dates in moderation ;)

Oh - pro tip:

Have your dates with pure butter.

Butter is packed with natural, healthy fats (which are needed to produce testosterone)

And it’ll taste delicious.

Thank me later :)

3) Dark Chocolate

~ You may have seen this one coming ~

Dark choc has less sugar & more pure cocoa than most chocolate.

You want the purest dark choc you can get.

On the packet, you’ll see the cocoa percentage.

A higher % means that it's more pure. We want it to be pure! The more pure it is the less refined sugars it’ll have :)

Anything above 70% is good!

However, a super high % might be too bitter for you.

You can use (small) amount of raw honey to soothe the bitter taste.

Benefits of dark chocolate:

  • Good for the skin

  • Improves cognitive performance

  • May enhance mood after consumption

(a study in 2022 suggested this)

In moderation - this snack is a better option than eating heavily processed chocolate.

Have 2 to 4 squares per day (max).

That's it!
